Well, I am currently located in Monroe, WA with my dear hubby and black lab that owns us!
We are in our early 30s and just married at the end of January although we have been together for almost 7 years.
So far I have done pretty well at growing Tomatoes, Grapes and Zucchini. At least until the dog discovered that the maters are tennis ball shaped and could be fetched! Lettuce, garlic, peppers, cucumbers, peas, strawberries and squash are a couple of others I attempted last season. We did make and can spaghetti sauce - our first canning attempt and it turned out great. Then we appropriated boxes full of apples from his parents trees then made and canned applesauce for the first time. Hard work but fun!
The hubby ate the peas right off the vine and the dog ate the strawberries! So I guess they did alright I just never got any into the kitchen.
Our goals include buying more land, growing and raising a lot of what we need while raising a family.
Anyway before I ramble anymore, that is kind of an introduction to me. Hope to "meet" some great folks on this board. Take care! Erica

Nice to see something brewing here! Expecting that with some effort we all can share a great deal of experiences. It has been 30 years for me in terms of living out the "back-to-the-land" movement. Mostly I have been involved in Alternative Arkitecture and its' support systems Appropriate Technology. I am in the very N.E. corner of Wash.. Have been empowering others in the following: rammed earth tire; strawbale; fibrecrete; stackwood; etc.. We at New-Ark Institute have created a flexible environment for workshops. We have a wide variety of accomodations and offer competency based (hands-on) instruction to ensure a valid experience. Hoping to be of service..... Bob
