Just noodling around the World of BackHome websites-lots of fun, we have all done a good job-we are going to have to tighten up a bit soon, as Bette Davis said "Put on your seat belts-it's going to be a bumpy ride" Best to you all! Keep up the good work!

Well let's see what can happen.... I mean what can we do if we set our minds to something. Say a chapter picnic.. or a mutual meet at an already planned event. I work, play, and live in an area conducive to a large meeting. Have taught workshops for years on the virtues of alternative materials: strawbale, fibrecrete, cob, etc.. Have opportunities for training times thruout this summer. Am hoping to do a sustainable Aqua-culture demonstration on our land soon?? Wanna See?? Hope to hear from ya all soon........... Bob

Hey there,
I'm new here. I was hoping to find more activity. My name is James. I grew up in Albany, Oregon, and am currently living in Graham, WA.
Back in the late '70s, after the OPEC oil embargo, I designed and built a passive solar triplex. A few mistakes were made along the way, but it turned out well and works quite nicely. My former father-in-law still lives in one of the units.
Cheap energy in the 80s and 90s made most people forget the lessons of the first "energy crisis", myself included. But I have since regained the vision and hope to move back to rural Oregon and prepare a sustainable homestead for the hard times ahead.
The coming energy crisis will make the 70s look like a picnic. I'm hoping to find other people who are preparing for the future.

Sure wish there was more action on this board!! Where is everybody? Went and read the members list...looks like we've got some folks. Hey, Robert, a chapter picnic sounds great! We *are* spread kinda thin, but surely we could figure out something!

Hello all; My name is Bob Merrill and I am most interested in seeing what can happen if we choose to pursue the convictions that cause us to look "BACKHOME." It is no secret that the healthiest and happiest peoples of America live in the past Agrarian Age. No, I am not going to promote that we go back to anything.... but that we take what we have learned and apply it sustainably as we move on. It is actually very doable and won't require as much sacrifice as focus. I saw a movie about post oil life in America called "The End of Suburbia". I personally found it most factual and presented in a very palatable manner..... it is a must see for those who are "AWAKE." Let us know how you liked it??
